Building Lives, Churches, and Communities Through the Gospel
Uganda is a powerful example of holistic ministry in action, where the Gospel is preached, lives are restored, and communities are strengthened through faith, compassion, and practical support. Holy Spirit Ministries International is honored to partner with leaders who are bringing lasting transformation across the nation.

Pastor Makumbi Johnson
Leadership & Church Ministry
HSMI partners with Pastor Makumbi Johnson, who leads a large and growing church in Uganda. Through strong leadership and discipleship, the church serves as a base for evangelism, training, and outreach throughout the region.
From this thriving church, leaders are raised up, equipped, and sent out to establish and strengthen new churches—ensuring long-term success and spiritual growth.
Church Planting & Evangelism

Pastor Makumbi Johnson's ministry regularly evangelizes towns and villages across Uganda. When individuals are born again, a pastor is sent to that community to disciple and shepherd the new believers.
To help pastors sustain themselves while growing the church, they are provided with:
-
Motorcycles for transportation and income generation
-
Business opportunities that allow them to support their families
-
Ongoing training and leadership support
This model empowers pastors to remain in their communities while building strong, healthy churches.
Economic Development & Sustainability
Pastor Makumbi's ministry in Uganda places strong emphasis on helping people become self-sufficient and restoring dignity through work.
Initiatives include:
-
Fisheries supplying fish to local restaurants
-
Tree farms
-
Brick-making and construction, producing their own building materials
These businesses help provide jobs, support families, and remove people from life on the streets.

Restoring Women
& Families

The ministry also reaches women who are vulnerable to exploitation, including those at risk of sex trafficking and widows affected by the widespread impact of AIDS.
Through skills training and vocational development, women are given:
-
Practical skills to earn a living
-
A pathway to independence
-
Hope, healing, and restoration
This work is transforming lives and breaking cycles of poverty and exploitation.
Reaching the Unreached
In areas such as Kawempe, where the population is predominantly Muslim, the church has grown to nearly 3,000 people, demonstrating the power of the Gospel even in spiritually resistant regions.

Project Orphans
HSMI supports the non-governmental organization called Project Orphans which is actually a village in Zirobwe, Uganda that meets the needs of those in poverty. PO equips communities to care for the vulnerable and the orphan, believing that children of all ages do best in a family setting versus an institutionalized orphanage. When a child is brought to PO, they work to have him or her placed into a loving foster home as quickly as possible. PO not only cares for the orphan and marginalized, but works to prevent orphans by providing medical, birthing and spiritual care. An orphan can be sponsored and their basic needs provided for a small monthly donation of $35. Our HSMI team currently sponsors two beautiful children.
